It wasn't really possible to do more, but he gave her a thumb's up as he turned to look at Jessica. It was amazing enough that they'd managed to cobble this together, but to have it work well, that was even better.
And that was when the unexpected happened. His gaze wasn't on the path, and he hit a patch of slush, just enough that one wheel went one way and the other... There was only one way to take that fall, and it was going to end up with the bike on top of him if he was lucky.
